This unusual EDWARDIAN SILVER SNUFF BOX is of oval form, with embossed classical scenes to lid and base and a flower and scroll border to the sides.
Of Hanau or Dutch origin, this superb Silver Snuff Box was imported by John George Piddington in 1905 and carries the rare London import mark ( * ) which was only used for 2 years. In addition to a full set of English Hallmarks the Box carries some Hanau silver marks.
The lid fits perfectly and internally it retains the original vibrant gilt coating and has little sign of use or wear. In excellent condition despite being almost 120 years old, this superb Snuff Box is free from any added engravings or monograms and would make a superb addition to a collection or could be used as a small trinket box.
