This Rare Solid Silver Victorian Sugar Scuttle with original Silver Scoop was made by the well-known and sought after silversmiths of Mappin & Webb in 1899.
Raised on a stepped circular pedestal base with decorated handles to top and rear, this superb Sugar Scuttle comes complete with original sugar scoop in the shape of a small scuttle.
Sugar scuttles, named for their design in the shape of a coal scuttle, were Victorian inventions with the first examples appearing in the 1850s. They went out of vogue after the Second World War and the vast majority made were silver plated, so sterling silver examples like this one are very rare and highly collectable.
In excellent condition with little or no signs of use or wear, this fabulous Sugar Scuttle is also free from any added engravings, monograms or initials.
