This superb hallmarked VICTORIAN SILVER CLARET / WINE JUG was made by Elkington & Co and assayed in Birmingham in 1882.

Of neoclassical design and of baluster-form, this stunning Silver Wine Jug has an engraved and repousse flower, foliate and c-scroll decoration. Attached to the side is a superbly shaped cast handle and the hinged shaped cover lifts to reveal the vibrant gilded interior.

To the front there is a large vacant cartouche above a tapering and spreading circular stem and foot with four foliate decorative engravings.

Free from any added engravings, initials or monograms, this outstanding Wine Jug would look fabulous in any setting or would enhance any silver collection.
